Kingdom Map Terrain Tiles

Here's a shot of the Kingdom Map. Clicking the map will bring up a much larger version of the map that you can browse around and see the various locations.

Keep in mind that what you're looking at is the map configuration file I'm using for these screenshots. If a different map configuration file is used, most of everything you see here will be scrambled and, since there are far more tiles then there are places to place them, each game may present new locations and other locations may not be present. This basically creates a new world every time you play.

I've now completed all the new graphics and descriptions for the terrain tiles that require an update. Most basic terrain tiles (woods, fields, mountains, etc.) didn't require an update as they're top down views of terrain made with royalty-free clip art specifically made for adventure game map making. In fact, I made nearly all of those tiles at least a decade ago and they still serve their purpose well.

However, specialized locations really need their own graphics and that's what I've been concentrating on. I've already shown you the merchants in the last chapter so I'll give you samples of the rest of the non-merchant terrain tiles. These special locations will have a "?" on the tile to indicate they have a description similar to card descriptions. Here's an example of a typical terrain tile and its description followed by examples from each region of the map.

Mariah Midlands

Wastelands & Generic Tiles

Mystic Realm

Breene Coastal

Breene Inland

Palace Grounds

This concludes separate articles that I'll be publishing for the game's artwork as this essentially wraps is up, save for a few minors things like buttons, icons, labels, etc. I'm going to be doing some minor work on the map graphics, as well. From here on out, all my updates will be posted to the Development Blog.
