Excellent article and pictures here

Did you know that we turned off Niagara Falls in 1969?
Here's an excellent article about it in Smithsonian Magazine.

Here's an overhead view of the Diamond Head crater that resides next to Waikiki, Oahu, Hawaii. I lived in Waikiki around 1969/70 so I obviously saw Diamond Head everyday and I've actually been inside of it.

From the Wiki: "...often known as Hawaiian Woodstock, Diamond Head Crater Festivals, sometimes called Sunshine Festivals, were all-day music celebrations held in the 1960s and '70s, attracting over 75,000 attendees for performances of the Grateful Dead, Santana, America, Styx, Journey, War, and Tower of Power, alongside Hawaiian talent like Cecilio & Kapono and the Mackey Feary Band."

I was there to see Santana with my uncle. There was no public access road at that time. To get into the concert, everyone walked up a trail that went up over the rim of the crater and back down into it. You really needed to be dedicated to go there for a show. You can see the path at the far end of the crater in this picture.

This is Nick and Bobbie Ercoline, the couple featured on the Woodstock album cover. The lower picture shows them 49 years later, still happily married since 1971. Unfortunately, Bobbie passed away March, 2023. They don't remember their picture being taken at Woodstock and were quite surprised to find themselves on the cover of the album.

Doesn't this look tasty? It's a Christmas meal in a can, developed by "Game", made specifically for gamers who wanted a holiday meal without having to stop playing their games or going through the trouble of cooking something up. Just grab a spoon, pop the lid and go to town. They even had a vegetarian version. It had a amazingly successful campaign back in 2013, when it was introduced, that went worldwide. It's had a couple of successful campaigns since then, as well. One problem....

...it's not real. There's a great article about the history of the Christmas Tinner here.

concert at Kezar Stadium, Golden Gate Park, San Francisco, 1973.
I was there.
Here's an article about the event in the Guardian

Julie: "You were there?? So cool!"
Doc: "Yeah, I was 17. Rode the bus down to Golden Gate park. It was an
awesome day. Lee Michaels and The Tubes opened for LZ."

To put this in context with how far that is, Pluto is roughly 4 billion
miles from us which means Voyager 1 is almost 4 times farther away.
We were able to re-establish usable communications with it
on April 20, 2024 after it being quiet for 5 months.

Here's an article on it from JPL

This is the Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque wrist watch made by
Jaeger-LeCoultre in 2021. It has 4 faces and is probably the most complicated watch ever made.

The front face not only has a clock but includes a perpetual calendar.
Inside the watch is a lunar clock displaying the Synodic cycle, Draconic cycle, and Anomalistic cycle.
The back of the watch shows the moon-phase as seen from the Southern Hemisphere.

Limited to ten pieces worldwide, it was originally issued at a price of 1.35 million euros.
Here's an incredibly informative article, as well as some beautiful close up zoomable pictures.

Ever: "I remember reading about this ....I need one of these in my life if U R
having a hard time (excuse the pun) trying to figure out what to get me, Doc."
Doc: "I'll put it at the top of my Christmas shopping list."
